One More Chance by Abbi Glines

Description:

Grant Carter did everything in his power to convince Harlow Manning that he was a good guy. More than a smooth-talker and someone she could trust. He had to overcome his reputation as a playboy, and his history with Harlow's half-sister, Nan, a woman with a reputation of her own.

Harlow had taken the chance, falling hard and fast for the guy who thrilled her with his all-consuming desire. After a lifetime of avoiding bad boys like Grant, she had opened herself to the possibilities of love...

But a life-changing secret has torn them apart, and now Grant and Harlow must decide if they have enough fight to make it work - or if the pain of betrayal has permanently destroyed their future.

VA's Review:

I am a huge fan of Abbi Glines Rosemary Beach series and this book is no exception! Last time we saw Grant and Harlow, they had finally decided to take a chance on each other, only to have Harlow's health problems to become shared with the entire world. Needless to say, Grant who's fears kept him from being with Harlow, did not react well to the news, leaving Harlow with no choice but to walk away.

This story picks up a few months later with Harlow staying with her brother Mase. She has a new secret that she wants so desperately wants to protect. She ignores the nightly calls from Grant not because she doesn't love him (she does), but because she doesn't think he can handle this new secret.

Grant has been calling Harlow's phone every night leaving a message and bugging Rush for any news he has on her. You feel his pain and get to see the Grant that we all know and fell in love with. Once he finally  gets to Harlow, they face many obstacles together and work toward the HEA.

Now, I am a Grant girl, I have to say, and I was heartbroken at Grant's reaction at the end of Take A Chance, but I was glad to see that he came to his senses and fought for Harlow and learned from his mistakes.

I was also pleasantly surprised by another character in this book, who I won't mention because I don't want to spoil it for you. But let's just say, Grant isn't the only one who did some growing up in this book.

This was Abbi Glines best work so far. She really tugged at the heart strings and made a very compelling story. You really felt the struggle that Harlow was going through as well as Grant's need to protect what was his.
