PAVA's Review of Our # 1 Pick...

Hello Fabulous Readers!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! We are finally at our number 1 pick for the year and we are so excited to share it with you!  It was a book that VA of course wanted to read right away because of the author herself and it was one of the first books she got PA to read when she entered our "Book World" this year. So without further adieu:

Description:

At twenty-two years old, Sydney has a great life: She's in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her best friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers Hunter's cheating on her--and she is left trying to decide what to do next.

Sydney becomes captivated by Ridge, her mysterious neighbor. She can't take her eyes off him or stop listening to the passionate way he plays his guitar every evening out on his balcony. And there's something about Sydney that Ridge can't ignore, either. When their inevitable encounter happens, they soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one...

Why I Love it:

First of all, I love it alone just because it is Colleen Hoover.  She writes the most incredible stories that make you laugh and cry...I will say I find myself crying in a lot of her books but they are great heart wrenching stories.

Ridge is in a band.  In fact, he writes the songs for his band.  He has the music down, but now he must write the lyrics.  Like any writer, Ridge is having writer's block.  One day when Sydney is sitting on the balcony, he notices Sydney singing to his song.  He practically begs her to send hi the lyrics.  Reluctantly she sends him her lyrics and he loves them.  And that's how their relationship started.

“Sometimes in life, we need a few bad days in order to keep the good ones in perspective.”

On her birthday, Sydney gets a text from Ridge telling her that her boyfriend is cheating.  She thinks that Hunter is throwing her a surprise party, but when she walks in the door, she sees a different kind of party than she expected to take place.  She quickly packs a suitcase and leaves the apartment.  Sitting in the pouring rain, she must now decide her next steps.  Little did she know what those next steps should be.   Ridge who she's known for like two weeks offers to have her stay in their extra bedroom.  I would be a little creeped out by that except he does have other roommates.  And let me tell you the roommates are an entertaining story all in their own.

“We try so hard to hide everything we're really feeling from those who probably need to know our true feelings the most.”

Sydney and Ridge spend a lot of time writing music together and one night, it goes a little farther than just writing music...their first kiss.  But this is quickly interrupted with the fact that Ridge has just hit her with a bombshell...he has a girlfriend.  Now let's face it, you can tell that they are both attracted to each other, and their song writing happened to bring them closer.  But it is made clear that Ridge will never leave his girlfriend.

“Hey, heart. Are you listening? You and I are officially at war.”

Ridge and Sydney decide to write emails to each other expressing themselves and how they feel after the kiss and the bomb was dropped down.  Sydney is mad that Ridge placed her in a similar situation she was in...the other woman.  But she stills decides to stay and write songs with him.  This is where you can practically cut the tension with a big old butcher knife.  You can tell how hard they are trying to stay away from each other.

“I failed miserably at trying not to fall in love with you.

I failed first.”

Their denial failed miserably and blew up in their faces.  But the fact that it blew up meant they had to start to make them face some hard choices.

“I...will never...regret you.”

Yes, that's right for reasons I can't explain, Sydney and Ridge went their separate ways.  Sydney moved out and got another apartment.  She didn't let Ridge know where she moved to.  But Warren her other roommate would go visit all the time.  Once Ridge figures out what a big mistake he made, he takes Warren's keys and condoms hostage so that he will tell him where Sydney lives.

“For her I bend, for you I break.”

So in a desperate attempt to get try and get her back, he goes to her apartment and spills his heart out to her.  While Sydney still has feelings for Ridge, she still feels like his second choice.  So she turns him down. Will Sydney get back with Ridge?  Can she get over her feelings of being the other woman?  Will she finally realize what she means to Ridge?  Read it to find out.

“Hurts to see you everyday
Cupid shuts his eyes and shot me twice
Smell your perfume on my bed
Thoughts of you invade my head
Truths are written, never said
And if I can't be yours now
I'll wait here on this ground
Till you come, till you take me away
Maybe someday
Maybe someday”

This book is my favorite book of Colleen Hoover's.  It made me laugh, made me cry, made me mad at some points, but it was a great heart warming story.  Another  5***** for Colleen Hoover!

PAVA's Review of the #2 Pick Play...

Hello Fabulous Readers!

Wow! We have almost made it to the end of our countdown!  We can't wait to share these next two books with you.

Now this book was just flat out funny and was our favorite in this series so far.

Description:

Readers the world over fell in love with sexy drummer Mal in Kylie Scott’s first Stage Dive novel. Now, Kylie Scott is back, and this time it’s bad-boy Mal’s turn to fall in love.

The drummer in a wildly successful rock band, Mal’s never had trouble with the ladies. It doesn’t hurt that he’s sexy as hell with a wicked sense of humor. But as much as Mal loves his ladies, romance and happily-ever-after just isn’t in his set of cards. Until one night, Mal meets the woman of his dreams. But can this cynical rocker ever trust in love?

Why I Love It:

"I'd go to the part and have fun before my world turned to shit"

Anne Rollins, as Mal likes to call her, comes home to find her apartment bare.  Her roommate had taken the couch, tv and cabinets along with her money and left.  Pretty nice roommate huh?  This puts Anne in a tough place to afford her apartment.  Unfortunately, she can't turn to family, to help her out because even they don't have the money.  Lauren, Anne's neighbor, comes over to borrow a coat to go to a Stage Dive party.  After some choice words to say about Anne's roommate she invites her to come along with her and her boyfriend to attend the party.  At first, Anne declines, but then in the end decides that it's an opportunity she can't pass up.  While she really has a crush on the drummer Mal Ericson, she would be happy to meet any member of the band.  Who wouldn't right?  Hot, tattooed artists.  Yes, please.  You can deliver it to my front door.

"Do you normally taunt your fans like this?"
"No.  I never realized it could be this much fun."

While at the party Anne steps out on the balcony and calls her boss Reece.  She explains to him the current situation with her roommate but then gets off the phone so she could join the party.  She takes some time to relax on the balcony and finish the rest of her beer, when she hears a deep manly voice behind her.  Yup, you guessed it, Mal Ericson.  Anne is pretty star struck at this point and can barely say two words to her crush.  Mal calls her out on her crazy eyes, which embarrasses Anne.  Overhearing her conversation he starts to ask about her roommate situation and basically calls her a doormat and tells her that she needs to set boundaries.  This angers Anne, that she screams at him so loud, that it stops the party happening inside.  Although I will tell that there exchange outside on the balcony is quite entertaining.  But you have to read it to see it for yourself.

"I'm settling done.  I'm a changed man.  True love and all that."
"You're moving in with me?"
"Yes, pumpkin.  I am moving in with you."

"When did we talk about this exactly?"
"Actually, you might have left by then.  But it doesn't change the facts."

After the big fight at the party Anne and Mal go inside and take a break.  But it's not long before Mal starts to stir things up again.  He has basically told everyone that Anne and he are dating and that they are moving in together...umm....did I mention that this was news to Anne?

"Anne.  Dude.  Welcome home!"

After coming home from work, Anne realizes that Mal has already moved in to her apartment.  He has paid the rent and has even decorated the living room.  Mal and Anne comes up with a "business" transaction to move in together, well ok..Mal comes up with the transaction and Anne just agrees.  Mal will help Anne out if Anne helps Mal out.  Mal has agreed to pay for rent, and he does a little more than that, if Anne will pretend to be his girlfriend.  Wait a second.  Something doesn't add up.  A hot, artist in a band needs to work out a deal to have a fake girlfriend.  Can't he just get a real girlfriend?  I won't tell you why sorry, you are gonna have to read it to find out.

“C’mon, Anne. We must defend our fake sex life.”

“We’ve broken my bed,” I said, stating the obvious.
“In battle, sacrifices must be made, pumpkin.”

So Mal and Anne "play" house.  They live together and get used to each other's habits.  Ok, it's more Anne that has to get used to Mal's habits.  But Anne holds up her end of the bargain, she pretends to be his fake girlfriend.  Yes they even pretend to have fake sex by jumping on the bed.  ;)

“You call her pumpkin?” My sister’s voice was filled with awe. “Does she actually answer?” “Well, she pretends to hate it. But secretly, I know she loves it. Her face goes all soft and everything.”

But as time goes on Anne starts to feel something more.  She is torn by her commitment to Mal and trying not to fall in love with him.  They go see out to many events and family dinners like real couples would and it causes some problems for Anne.  She doesn't want to fall too deep for her fake boyfriend.  It would ruin everything...it would also ruin her.

“You know, I honestly can’t decide if your ego is repulsive or just impressive.”

I think one of the things that I love most about this book is Mal ego.  He really does think a lot of himself and his comments are utterly hilarious.  It keeps this book funny and entertaining all the way through.  Mal is such a character, but it's hard not to love him.  But despite his ego, Mal does care and love and you get to see a softer side of him in the book.  In fact, his ego actually works out to help Anne set some boundaries.  She starts by setting a lot of boundaries with him, but it in the end it may not work in Mal's favor.

“Life’s a song, Anne. Let’s play.”

#3 Silver Shadows by: Richelle Mead

8709524

Description:

Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets—and human lives.

In The Fiery Heart, Sydney risked everything to follow her gut, walking a dangerous line to keep her feelings hidden from the Alchemists.

Now in the aftermath of an event that ripped their world apart, Sydney and Adrian struggle to pick up the pieces and find their way back to each other. But first, they have to survive.

For Sydney, trapped and surrounded by adversaries, life becomes a daily struggle to hold on to her identity and the memories of those she loves. Meanwhile, Adrian clings to hope in the face of those who tell him Sydney is a lost cause, but the battle proves daunting as old demons and new temptations begin to seize hold of him. . . .

Their worst fears now a chilling reality, Sydney and Adrian face their darkest hour in this heart-pounding fifth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where all bets are off.

Why I Like It:

Bloodlines is a spin off series from Vampire Academy.  While I loved Vampire Academy, I have absolutely LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Bloodlines.  This series focuses on Sydney Sage and Adrian Ivashkov.  So I feel like it wouldn't be a review if I didn't give you my choice without giving you a few more books to read.  So one last time....WARNING: This book is the fifth book in the Bloodlines series and yes the plot does build on top of each other.  But this book was too good to keep out of our top 10 books of 2014.

“I took a deep breath and said: “I fell in love with a vampire.”
And like that, I was blinded by light.”

Sydney Sage is an Alchemist.  She helps clean up messes...well vampire messes from the humans.  Her job is to make sure that humans are not aware of vampires or dhampirs.  Adrian is a Moroi, a  vampire.  He hasn't had the best of luck with love, especially in Vampire Academy.  But it's Adrian's time for love, but there are still some more hurdles to jump until he gets his HEA.

“Out of old habit, I put my hand on my collarbone, touching a cross that was no longer there.
Don't let them change me, I prayed silently.  Let me keep my mind.  Let me endure whatever there is to come.”

This book starts off with Sydney in an alchemist conditioning center.  In the previous book the alchemists had found out about her being in a relationship with Adrian.  This is like a cardinal sin to the alchemists.  So when alchemists don't do what they are told, they are sent to a center to get reconditioned.  She was sent to classes with a group of men and women around her age.  Since being the newbie, they don't accept her right away.  But together they do the impossible.

“But with Sydney... with Sydney, I'd had it all- And lost it all. Love, understanding, respect. The sense that we'd both become better people because of each other and could take on anything so long as we were together. Only we weren't together anymore. They'd ripped us apart, and I didn't know what was going to happen now.”

Adrian kept trying to find out where Sydney was at.  Adrian was a spirit user and tried to show up in her dreams every night, but he just couldn't connect with Sydney.  Where was she?  Was she still alive?  This spirit usage causes Adrian to go into a very dark place and he slowly starts to lose hope.  Instead of looking for Sydney he becomes depressed and turned to alcohol.  Now this is the point in the book, where I started yelling at Adrian and got really, really mad.  I was so upset that he gave up on Sydney.  Here was Sydney fighting in the alchemist center not giving up, while in other areas of the world, Adrian was drinking.

“Adrian.
He was the reason I was able to survive in this prison.
And he was also the reason I was here in the first place.”

But of course for Adrian and Sydney to get the HEA, Adrian regains his hope in finding Sydney.  Adrian comes to the center where Sydney was held.  He  allows the alchemists to experiment on him just to be with Sydney.  If that's not love, I don't know what is.  So here's the point where I started to like Adrian again.  I have to say that I am proud of Adrian working through spirit on his own, without Sydney.  Good to see that Sydney was still there, even though she wasn't physically.

“Everything I’d fought for, every challenge, every victory … all of it was empty if anything happened to him. Without him, I wouldn’t have had the courage to become the person I was. Without him, I wouldn’t have realized what it truly was to live and love life. Centrum permanebit. He was my center, and there was nothing I wouldn’t do, nothing I wouldn’t give up, to keep him safe.”

Sydney and Adrian are trapped in the alchemist center together, but at least they are together right?  Well when both of them are there, the alchemists do some pretty crappy experiments often involving both of them and they aren't allowed near each other any other time...unless it serves the purpose of the alchemists.  But during some of those times that the alchemists planned, Sydney, Adrian and the friends she made at the center worked together to plan an escape.  So one night, they put their plan into action and got themselves out of dodge.  But as we can imagine, this angers the alchemists.

“Sydney Katherine Sage,” he said, his green eyes full of love and earnestness. “Would you do a brooding, deadbeat Moroi the honor of being his wife?”

This puts Adrian and Sydney on the run.  They have to find a place where the alchemists won't find them.  After some close calls, Adrian comes up with a great plan to help protect Sydney, but it causes her to have to give up everything she has known, her dad, sister and the alchemists. So Sydney has to make the biggest decision of her life, marry a vampire and give up everything she knows or give up the love of her life.

“I know what love is, Mom. I’ve had love that burns in every fiber of my being, that drives me to be a better person and empowers me through each moment of the day. If you’d ever had something like that, you’d hold on to it with every bit of strength you had.”

This book had me on the edge of my seat.  Especially the first part of the book.  I experienced a lot of sadness and even shed a few tears, some of those chapters I was angry.  Like so angry that I'm surprised my Kindle is still in one piece, but it had sweet and happy moments and even moments of laughter.

I kept routing for Sydney and Adrian.  I'm a big fan of these two.  They are perfect together and I am so happy that Adrian found her.  After being heartbroken over Rose, I'm so glad he found love again.  This book is also setting up for the Bloodlines final book The Ruby Circle.  This book is set to come out February 10th.  I can not wait to see what happens in the last part.

Our #4 Pick... Stepbrother Dearest

Hello Fabulous Readers!

We are getting close to revealing our number one pick for the year. Any ideas on what it might be yet?

Well, until then, take a look at our #4 pick for 2014. It is a great tale that had my heartstrings tugged at. I, like all of you out there, love a good story that does that to the old ticker. :)

Description:

You’re not supposed to want the one who torments you.

When my stepbrother, Elec, came to live with us my senior year, I wasn’t prepared for how much of a jerk he’d be.

I hated that he took it out on me because he didn’t want to be here.
I hated that he brought girls from our high school back to his room.
But what I hated the most was the unwanted way my body reacted to him.

At first, I thought all he had going for him were his rock-hard tattooed abs and chiseled face. Then, things started changing between us, and it all came to a head one night.

Just as quickly as he’d come into my life, he was gone back to California.

It had been years since I’d seen Elec.

When tragedy struck our family, I’d have to face him again.

And holy hell, the teenager who made me crazy was now a man that drove me insane.

I had a feeling my heart was about to get broken again.

Why I LOVE it:

Penelope Ward does a great job with each and every book that she writes! This book was no exception. It took me a while to get around to reading this book and when I finally did I kicked myself for waiting so long!

This story starts off when Greta is a senior in high school and is getting prepared for her step brother to come live with her and her family for the next school year. She was all sorts of excited, and once she laid eyes on Elec, she was definitely attracted to him. However, Elec walked in the door, he made it very clear that he wanted nothing to do with her, and that set her off.

"There was no way I wanted to be his sister. For one, when he turned to me, he looked like he wanted to kill me. And two, once I got my first look at his chiseled face, it became abundantly clear that while my mind was wary of him, my body had been instantly put under a spell, one I would have given anything to come out from under."

Needless to say, Elec spent most of his time there being a relative pain in the a**. However, he does have moments where he seems to protect her from others or is just simply hanging out with her. He runs hot/cold with her for the majority of the time there, and when Greta finally confronts him about that his only response is:

"I can't answer that question any more than you can tell me why you look at me the way you do even though I've treated you like sh*t".

As the story progresses, the two cannot ignore their feelings any longer and it all comes to a head when Elec tells Greta he will have to go home to his mother the next day and never return. This breaks Greta's and Elec's heart and she ends up sleeping with him that night. When morning comes, he says goodbye and walks out of her life for the next 6 years.

"I know that despite my warning, you gave me a piece of your heart anyway last night. And even though I tried to stop it, I gave you a piece of mine. I know you could feel this happening this morning. I want you to keep it with you tucked away. And when you decide to give the rest of yours to another guy someday, please make sure it's someone who deserves you."

The second part of the story takes place 6 years later and Elec's dad has just died. Greta goes to comfort her mother and finds herself anxious to see Elec after all of these years. Only when he arrives, he is not alone. His girlfriend has made the trip with him.

Broken hearted, Greta tries to be there for her mother and comfort her in her loss, however, her thoughts are still of Elec and what they once had.

Once Elec's girlfriend leaves to go home for a wedding, Greta finds herself comforting Elec, and trying to protect her heart at the same time. She knows that she can't have him, but she can't stop herself from wanting to be around him.

"I never got over hurting you the first time, but hurting you twice... believe me when I say the was the last thing I ever wanted to see happen in my lifetime."

This story of love and loss and finding your way home again is beautifully told and has you in tears at some points! But in the end, Elec and Greta make the best choice for themselves and learn that the road to happiness isn't always the easiest.

#5 Bender by: Stacy Borel

21971980

Description:

All Keegan wanted was a roommate who was quiet, minded their own business, and paid for part of the rent. Instead, she got Camden Brooks.

Camden, with his sinful body, sharp tongue, and the inability to stay out of Keegan’s personal space, couldn’t seem to curb his interest in the new girl who wouldn’t put up with his domineering ways.

Feelings were running rampant, sexual tension was thick, and both were struggling to let go of control.

To some people, getting a roommate simply meant living with another person. But to both Camden and Keegan it was a curveball that neither was prepared to swing at.

Why I Like It:

So I don't think it's a secret that we love this book.  Especially after this was my first review on the blog.  I will repeat myself only once more, this book is a great read.  It has humor, roommate banter, love and just a good down to earth book that makes it easy to finish this book in one sitting.   Well, at least I did, but then again sometimes I get so wrapped up into book world, I find it hard to get out.  But this book was no exception.  I will say that a reading a book is like watching a movie, it has to capture my attention in the beginning, otherwise I tend to move or take a really long time to read the book.  This book captured my attention right away and even made it hard to put it down.

"I was looking to make a change.  To get out of the rut I'd been living in."

Keegan was living with her mother and younger sister and was basically at her mom's beckoning call to help out with her younger sister.  Her mother was constantly asking her to watch her little sister and in result she wasn't able to make study groups to keep up her grades and get accepted into nursing school.   Keegan loved her little sister and never was upset with her for her mom's mistakes.  When her mother finally went to far, Keegan decided it was time to move out.

"Just a regular ad.  Except it was misleading, and what I got was so not normal.  In fact, I had no idea what I was getting myself in to..."

Keegan's friend, Macie decides to help look for apartments.  Keegan responds to three ads and sets up an appointment to go visit them in one day.  First apartment, the guy is well...creepy, the second apartment was a goth chic who's in a band...too loud.  Third times a charm when she meets Dodger.  He's very nice, not a creeper, no loud music (perfect for studying) and has an amazing apartment close to campus.  SOLD!  Except...Dodger doesn't live there, his brother Camden does.

"You were made for me blue.  You are my person."

Camden owns a gym, works out a lot and is really... well....HOT!!  The first night, he brings another woman back to the apartment rubbing it in Keegan's face.  Despite his actions like he doesn't care, he still manages to wake up and make her breakfast the next morning.

"...with that one look, I knew you were the girl who could ruin me."

As time goes by Keegan and Camden spend more time together and the walls start to break down on both sides.  They start to learn to trust one another and a relationship begins to blossom.

Bender was funny, entertaining, a wonderful story to let you know that you never know when you will meet someone that can change your life.  Oh and did I mention the romance.  This book had some hot and steamy parts that would make you have to wipe the condensation off your window. I can't wait to read book #2 Slider! A little birdie told me to expect it January 20th.  Cant's wait!

#6 Rush Too Far by: Abbi Glines

18211536

Description:

Fallen Too Far was Blaire's story. Now it's time for Rush to share his side.

Everyone in Rosemary Beach thinks they know how Rush Finlay and Blaire Wynn fell in love. But Rush is back to tell his side of the story...

Rush has earned every bit of his bad-boy reputation. The three-story beach house, luxury car, and line of girls begging for time between his sheets are the envy of every guy in Rosemary Beach, and Rush handles it all with the laid-back cool of a rock star’s son. All he needs are his best friend, Grant, and his sister, Nan.

Until Blaire Wynn drives into town in her beat-up pickup truck with a pistol under her seat. The Alabama farm girl instantly captures Rush’s attention once he discovers that the angelic beauty is his new stepsister, but he vows to keep his distance. Even if she needs his help. Even if he craves her.

Because Rush knows why Blaire is all alone in the world, forced to ask for help from the father who abandoned her three years ago. And he knows if he gets too close it will destroy Nan, who has a secret connection to Blaire.

He has every reason in the world to stay away from her. Find out why he doesn’t.

Why I like It:

So I hear our readers out there..."another Abbi Glines book" and to them I say YES!  VA and I happen to love her, most of all her Rosemary Beach series.  This series is great, all these bad boys and how when they find the love of their life; how soft, protective and a puddle of mush they become.  They will do anything, and I mean absolutely anything for the woman they love and Rush is no exception to the rule.

This is the first book in the Rosemary Beach series but from Rush's point of view.  Rush is the ultimate rich, bad boy.  Rush is the son of a famous rock bang called Slacker Demon.  So you can only imagine his father and how he was raised; he has money, a nice house, throws excellent parties and could have and even sometimes does have any woman he wants.  Oh and did I mention he is hott!  But what guy isn't in these books.  Am I right girls?  Rush has hated Blaire for years, until the moment he saw her.  I know what you're thinking, how could he hate someone he's never met.  Well that's for you to read and find out.  No spoilers here.  But I will say that he hates her to protect his sister Nan.  How can we not like a man who will protect his sister.

"She is an angel.  My angel.  A beautiful, strong, fierce, loyal angel who entered my life in a pickup truck, carrying a gun."

Blaire shows up to Rush's house under the impression that he has agreed to give her a place to stay.  But let's just say that Rush isn't too thrilled when she shows up, well at least that's what he portrays on the outside.  Inside, he thinks she's the most beautiful woman he has ever met.  So starts the love/hate relationship between Rush and Blaire.  Rush reluctantly agrees to let Blaire stay, but goes a little Harry Potter style, sets her up in a room under the stairs, his house maid's room in fact.

“She didn’t get me at all. She didn’t understand, and holy hell, she thought she wasn’t good enough. Was she kidding me? She was so damn near perfect it hurt.”

Blaire gets a job at a local country club, the one where Rush is a member, to raise money to get a place of her own.  Her boss Woods, takes an immediate interest in her, which causes a little bit of jealousy with Rush...ok maybe not a little...a lot.  But Woods knows how Rush treats Blaire and in an attempt to protect her from Rush even asks her out.  Blaire finally accepts an invitation but to one of Rush's parties.  This doesn't go over to well with Rush, it in fact causes him to be insanely jealous.  Although I know what you're thinking, he hasn't even given her the time of day, how can he even care or has a right too, but let me tell you when you read it, you are still rooting for the guy.  You catch glimpses that he really truly does care about her.  Eventually, he decides to give in to his feelings and start dating her, with which he gives Woods a warning to stay away.  Oh just so you know he isn't a complete a-hole he does get her out of the room under the stairs and upgrades her room, even though she never once complained about it.  Another reason she's such a strong girl, and luckily Rush happens to agree with my opinion; or maybe it's I who agrees with him.

“Doesn’t sound like she’s alone anymore”…
“She’s not. She never will be. I’ll always be there for her. I’ll keep her safe. I’ll take care of her. She will always have me.”

But let me tell you after they start having a relationship, their problems aren't over, far from it.  In fact, his sister Nan isn't exactly thrilled about this latest development and Rush often is torn between his sister Nan and the woman he loves.  Blaire finds out a secret that causes her to reexamine her life in Rosemary Beach but most of all her relationship with Rush.  So she does what most girls would do...she runs.  Blaire goes back home to the life that she knew before Rosemary Beach...before Rush.

“Leaning down, I pressed a kiss to her head. "I will fix this. I swear I will make it right. I love you enough to get us through this. I just need you to love me enough. Please, Blaire. Love me enough," I pleaded.”

This breaks Rush.

“It was like she'd become the sun, and I started revolving around her. She was my center.”

What will happen?  Will Rush and Blaire work things out?  Will Blaire ever return to Rosemary Beach?  Well I will not spoil it for you,  but I will say; THIS is why we read Abbi Glines and the Rosemary Beach series.

“My sweet Blaire. She had shown up and stolen a piece of my heart without opening her mouth. Then she’d consumed me. Taken it all. I had let her have it freely.”

# 7 Opposition by: Jennifer L. Armentrout

13644055

Description:

Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came.

She can't believe Daemon welcomed his race or stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred, and love has become an emotion that could destroy her—could destroy them all.

Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal.

They must team with an unlikely enemy if there is any chance of surviving the invasion. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything— even what they cherish most—to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind.

War has come to Earth. And no matter the outcome, the future will never be the same for those left standing

Why I Like It:

Well the countdown is on and this is my first post on the countdown.  I hope that you have been enjoying our recommendations.  I know I have.  It has given me the opportunity to go back and reread some of my favorite books from this year.  I hope you are enjoying reading them as much as I have been rereading them.

PA

I absolutely love this book by Jennifer Armentrout.  In fact, this is one of my favorite series.  So here we go again.  Warning: This book is the last book in it's series.  All the other books lead up to this epic finale.  I have included the first four books in the series at the bottom.

I am so excited that I finally found a book series ending that I loved.  (Haven't had the best luck lately.)  But this one does not disappoint.  Jennifer did a great job with this series.  I absolutely could not put these books down.  I actually had to wait to read the finale and I can tell you it wasn't easy.

“Oh no. Oh, hell to the no to the tenth power.”

This book picks up were Origin left off.  Daemon, Katy and their friends are trying to save the world as it has been invaded.  They have had a lot of issues along the way with who they can trust.  They have been betrayed by some of their friends so they are having a hard time placing trust in the people they call friends, not cool right.  Their friends betrayals caused a lot of issues for them along their mission.

"You didn't lose me kitten, you could never lose me."

One of my favorite parts about this book series is the relationship between Daemon and Katy.   But I think I melt every time he called her Kitten.  Daemon came up with this nickname for her and OMG, I love him for it.  He's like the best book boyfriend ever!!!!  Daemon loves Katy so deeply, and it really shows in this book.  But their banter back and forth is hilarious.  There are moments in this book that you bust out laughing (which makes you look like an idiot if there are other people in the room.  They use a lot of sarcasm with each other and you can really tell her affection for one another as well as their sexual tension.

"I broke every rule of my kind to heal you and keep you with me.  I married you and burned down an entire city to keep you safe.  I've killed for you.  Did you think I'd forget what you mean to me?  That anything in this world-any world-would be stronger than my love for you?"

Need I say more.  I just love Daemon Black!

I know that this isn't a typical book review and I'm literally just telling you all the things that I liked about the book.  But readers, I really want you to explore the plot for yourself.  I don't want to spoil it for you.  She kept this book action packed with twists and turns all the way throughout this book series.  Like I said, I just couldn't put these book down.  I wasn't expecting to like the series as much as I did.  But there were parts where I laughed, I cried and of course I screamed at some characters every now and then.  That to me is an AWESOME book.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Jennifer Armentrout and what she did with this series.  So stop reading this review and start reading the Lux Series.  I promise you won't regret it.

Our #8 Pick... One More Chance

Hello Fabulous Readers!

Merry Christmas Eve!!!

It will come as no surprise that we selected this book as one of our favorites of this year because it was one of our first reviews! We love this Abbi Glines and enjoy each book that she comes out with.

Description:
Grant Carter did everything in his power to convince Harlow Manning that he was a good guy. More than a smooth-talker and someone she could trust. He had to overcome his reputation as a playboy, and his history with Harlow's half-sister, Nan, a woman with a reputation of her own.

Harlow had taken the chance, falling hard and fast for the guy who thrilled her with his all-consuming desire. After a lifetime of avoiding bad boys like Grant, she had opened herself to the possibilities of love...

But a life-changing secret has torn them apart, and now Grant and Harlow must decide if they have enough fight to make it work - or if the pain of betrayal has permanently destroyed their future.

Why I LOVE It:

I will said it once and I will say it again... GAME CHANGER!

While I love the whole Rosemary Beach series, Grant's story was my absolute favorite! Grant is a great guy who really was always there for all of his buddies there in Rosemary when they were all bitten by the "love bug". Yet when it bites him, he, for lack of a better word, freaks out a bit. And yes it cost him Harlow at the end of Take a Chance.  However, in One More Chance he gets his, ahem, stuff together (about time jellyhead) and realizes that love isn't something to be afraid of. Frankly I know some other characters who could use that particular lesson...

Anyway, last time we saw Grant and Harlow, they had finally decided to take a chance on each other, only to have Harlow's health problems to become shared with the entire world. Needless to say, Grant who's fears kept him from being with Harlow, did not react well to the news, leaving Harlow with no choice but to walk away.

This story picks up a few months later with Harlow staying with her brother Mase. She has a new secret that she wants so desperately wants to protect. She ignores the nightly calls from Grant not because she doesn't love him (she does), but because she doesn't think he can handle this new secret.

"I missed him. I missed hearing his voice. I missed his dimpled smile."

"He was terrified of losing someone he cared about again."

Now Grant doesn't know where Harlow is and has been calling her phone every night leaving a message and bugging Rush for any news he has on her. You feel his pain and get to see the Grant that we all know and fell in love with.

"This is the forty-eighth message... which means I haven't seen your face in forty-eight days. I haven't held you. I haven't seen you smile.  I don't know where you are Harlow. I've looked, baby. God, I've done everything I could. Where are you?"

Yeah, after that message and the others that follow, it's hard to stay mad at the guy. I mean he knew what he did and is trying to fix it, so you gotta give the guy some credit for that!

Fortunately, their separation doesn't last for long because Mase and Rush had decided enough was enough they helped reunite the two love birds so that they could work through their issues together like every couple should.   When Grant shows up at Harlow's door she is in shock, but happy, thank God!

"I am afraid this is a dream. I'll wake up, and you won't be here."

"If you wake up and this is a dream, call me. I'll come running. I swear."

SWOON!!!! See why I love the guy?

Once Grant and Harlow do reunite, there are many obstacles that get in their way and oddly enough no, it isn't Nan. Actually, it has to do with Harlow's new secret and what she isn't willing to give in on. Grant recognizes how important it is to the both of them and that he needs to protect it at all costs. Grant really came into his own in this book and showed us what a stand up guy he really is. He really loves Harlow and  just wants to make her happy, and Harlow just wants what every normal couple wants. You watch them settle down and fall in love with each other.

I will give you one warning though, have plenty and I mean plenty of tissues ready, their road does get bumpy and will have those heartstrings of your pulled!  But trust me, it will be all worth it in the end.
